On receiving an invitation to Strip, I imagined that it would at least feature a piece of art involving the actual shedding of clothes. I don’t think it makes me a pervert, it’s just what I expected when the curatorial statement of the exhibition said: “The purpose here is to strip bare, rediscover and reopen the discourse around the human form…”
The AAF seeks entries that “express to the nation what a future history is, what it can be, and what it must be for Nigerians and artists alike. Artists are encouraged to think laterally about the social, political, and cultural climate of their local communities and Nigeria as a country, whilst exploring their terra incognita art practice.”
